Award Overview

The Operator’s Meritorious – Water Treatment Service Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated consistent and outstanding contributions to water treatment operations and maintenance.

This award honors operators whose work reflects dedication to plant performance, equipment longevity, innovation in treatment processes, and commitment to protecting public health through reliable treatment practices.

Eligibility Criteria

Nominee must demonstrate one or more of the following:

  • Continuous compliance with public health standards for finished water
  • Consistent and outstanding contributions to plant maintenance that prolong the useful life of treatment equipment
  • Development of new and/or modified equipment or significant process improvements to provide more efficient or more effective treatment
  • Special efforts in the training of treatment plant operators and/or water distribution personnel
  • Special acts not directly related to water treatment or distribution that demonstrate dedication to the public beyond the normal call of duty
  • Consistent and outstanding contribution to the operation and/or maintenance of water treatment facilities
  • Ohio EPA Water Supply Unit Supervisor concurrence (required)

Nomination Requirements

Complete the online nomination form, which will include:

  • Eligibility confirmation
  • A detailed justification noting specific examples of treatment operations excellence, plant maintenance contributions, process improvements, training efforts, and service aligned with the selected criteria
  • Upload of the required Ohio EPA Water Supply Unit Supervisor letter of concurrence

Deadline & Presentation

Nominations must be submitted by April 15.

Presented at the OAWWA Member Appreciation Lunch during the One Water Conference on August 19. Recipients are also recognized in the fall issue of Waterfront and on the OAWWA LinkedIn page.
